The festive season is a time of joy, family, and togetherness. However, while many gather to celebrate, there are those who, for various reasons, are unable to participate. In the lead-up to the holiday period, our dedicated volunteers take the time to collect and donate various items to create hampers. Their efforts aim to brighten what can be a difficult and challenging time for those in it.
Over the past few years, we have continued the Give Warmth appeal in many of our locations across the country. Our volunteers collect, wrap, and prepare the hampers with love and care, delivering them to various organisations, including local hospitals, care home residents, rough sleepers, and local hospices. Rainbows Hospice, Stepping Hill Hospital, Lewisham Hospital (Children’s Ward), Hannah House, and Barnet Hospital are just a few of the places we visited during our 2024 appeal. Each visit leaves a positive impact on patients, staff, and volunteers alike.
During several visits, some staff members shared their feedback regarding this initiative.
“We appreciate your services and the love and care you show to our residents, patients, and staff. Keep doing the good work.”
“We are very happy and thankful that you remembered our children in the hospital. It will bring a lot of happiness to them.”
We also aim to demonstrate to the staff members of these organisations that they are valued. The work they do is essential and isn’t overlooked. Our volunteers strive to remind them that their dedication is appreciated. This received warmly, with staff members expressing their gratitude.

This appeal leaves a positive impact on everyone involved, as even the volunteers gain special experiences from it. One of our volunteers commented, “For me, yesterday was a true blessing. Being able to see the smiles on the faces of the hospital staff was a true joy and speaking to the patients and being able to encourage them – honestly, it was amazing!”
