In the past, the Caleb Group’s Christmas lunch would take place inside the premises of the UCKG HelpCentre. But for 2018, all 20 branches that held it did so at a restaurant of their choice.
The different cuisines chosen included Turkish, Caribbean, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Persian, Portuguese and…. Nando’s.
With such a wide variety to choose from, the Caleb Group, a UCKG Community Outreach group for the over 50’s, decided to venture out and do something different for their annual Christmas lunch.
Over 250 Caleb Group members throughout the UK, from cities including Birmingham, Leeds, Luton and Nottingham, as well as 16 locations in London took part.
From the pictures, you can see that everyone had a good time, mingling with friends, family and newcomers who were invited along and enjoying food not traditionally eaten at Christmas.
As Christmas can be a lonely time for older people in the UK, the Caleb Christmas lunch was a time to socialise with other like minded people and celebrate Christmas together.
Do you know someone who could benefit from joining the Caleb Group? Or do you know someone who may feel lonely and could benefit from a friendly visit by the Caleb Group?
