Victory Youth Group Give Back in Communities

There is always a way to give back to the community we live in. All we need to do this is a willingness to want to give back and eyes the see the different opportunities around us in which we can give and show care in our community.

Working together with the community outreach group within the UCKG HelpCentre, the Victory Youth Group (VYG) from across many branches in the UK coordinated and took part in a We Care Youth Engagement event. The Victory Youth Group is a youth organisation that engages young people from all walks of life with the aim to help them realise and reach their full potential. This event was an opportunity for the young people within the VYG to demonstrate that they care for their local community by engaging in various activities that helps improve their community.

The young people across the country planned activities based around the needs local to their community. Some of the activities saw the young people, litter picking in local parks, weapon sweeping in a nearby estate, clearing up a local nature conservation area and volunteering at a local green space to pick litter and water the trees within the space. Many of these activities involved the young people working in conjunction the local councils, local police and other organisations.

With the aim of making a difference in their communities, the young people ensured they left a positive impact – not only on the areas worked on, but also on the community organisations they partnered with on the day.

A member of staff from the community commented;

Volunteers gathered to clear brambles and pick up litter in a local conservation area. The efforts made a noticeable difference, helping the area stay clean and healthy for wildlife and the community.”

The young people themselves commented on the impact the event had on them. Some of the young people shared their experiences saying:

It was really fun for us and to show our care for the community. I’m even excited to do it again!

Today was my first time picking litter and it was a very good experience. Even seeing how much litter there is around be and being able to take it away and make the environment better is something I would really encourage others to take part in.”

Through each event that took place, the young people surely left a positive imprint within their communities.
